Watch The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 HPE850 Hit The Dyno: Video

Hennessey Performance Engineering has been posting videos of its 2016 performance vehicles undergoing acceleration tests and dyno tests, and the latest HPE to hit the dyno is the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Z06 with the HPE850 package.

Fitted with the 8-speed automatic 8L90 transmission and running on Shell V-Power Nitro+ 93, the 2016 Corvette and its tuned 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8 hits the dyno making 712 rear-wheel horsepower. HPE says that this is approximately 850 horses at the flywheel, which translates to a 20 percent parasitic powertrain loss.

For the sake of comparison, the C7 Corvette Z06’s LT4 in stock form is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which means that HPE’s upgrades add 200 ponies to an already-healthy package. And though we can talk power figures all day long, it’s the feel of the additional power that one must experience to truly appreciate HPE’s work, which makes us add the HPE850 to our bucket list.

In the meantime, we’ll enjoy the soothing symphony of this hellish HPE850 Z06.
